Over the next decade, we may see unparalleled progress in the fields of science, art, technology, and medicine. Though we may not feel the immediate jolt of Uranus’ entry into Aries, the world as we now know it may be irrevocably different by March 6, 2019, when Uranus enters Taurus.
Aries – The Zodiac Cycle Begins
March of 2011 is quite the astrological month. First, Mercury sweeps into Aries on March 9th. Then Uranus makes a grand entrance with slightly ominous tinges. The moon goes full on March 19th, commemorating the Vernal Equinox with her nocturnal resplendence. The Sun enters Aries the next day, on March 20th, ending one season and cycle, and commencing another.
The Zodiac Cycle begins anew with the Sun in Aries. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and the first, most potent, of the fire signs. The Ram is bold, courageous, impulsive, inspired, and determined. The Equinox is one of only two days a year in which the length of night and day is equal, harmonious. Life springs forth from the wintered earth, fragile, nubile, and ripe with potential. The new life focuses on survival, on self-preservation: This is Aries. Aries is also about fire. And fire is about the spirit; the fire of Aries is the spark of inspiration that can suddenly swell into a conflagration of creativity.
Uranus – The Great Awakener
Uranus’ energy is like ten thousand bolts of lightning striking a single point. In astrology, Uranus represents the energy of enlightenment and electrifying creativity. Uranus is the force that enters the scene and destroys all that stands in order to create the space for something transcendent, something once thought impossible. Uranus is eccentric beyond imagination, it is bold imagination, whose very essence is to tear down the walls of orthodoxy to create utopia.
The Great Awakener is the symbol for revolution. To forecast revolution during major transits of Uranus would be an accurate delineation, if not an irresponsible one. But the repressed are already beginning to rise. Revolution is not only an external event. It is a transformative inner event. Hearts and minds must change before the world can. Uranus influences the outer realms as well as the inner realms. But given current events, and the turbulence in the Islamic world, revolution is, indeed, already at hand. There is potential that more revolutionary momentum will continue to swell at an inconceivable rate.
Breakthroughs in Science, Medicine, and Technology
Key words such as, compassion, kindness, thoughtfulness, passivity, and emotions are generally associated with Pisces. This is not the same with Aries. Aries is a tempest of self-centered impulses. Aries, being the first sign of the zodiac, is the spark, the original flame that represents life, inspiration, and spirit. Its archetypal energy contains the energy to explode; in war, in invention, in relations, in every aspect of life.
Pisces, where Uranus has been for the last eight years, is a muddled, tepid sea of emotion, where one is more inclined to feel, relate to, and understand the other’s position, or condition. Aries, quite frankly, does not care about the other’s “condition,” as if it’s a bad word. Where there has been blockage and inhibition (Piscean traits) in the fields of science (stem-cell research bans) there will be breakthroughs while Uranus is in Aries.
The troubling aspect with any “outer planet” (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) transiting into a new sign of the Zodiac, is that these planets effect humanity as a whole. They are the latent and potent unconscious forces that sweep and churn behind the collective unconscious. They reside, ebb and flow, and influence in all of us. They are the agents of change across the globe.
Revolutions may continue erupt across the world. Ideas prompting new paradigms in social-political arenas should arise collectively, and independently. Information overload will result. We may see technological progress that is leaps and bounds beyond the horizons of current imagination. We could witness innovation that could usher in new planes of understanding of our universe. Humanity may not be prepared for what we may create and concoct during Uranus’ stay in Aries.
The astrological properties for Uranus are eccentricity, explosive destruction and hyper-real creation. It is inspiration delivered in brilliant flashes of creativity fueling transformation across a wide spectrum of humanity.
As mentioned earlier, the effects of this mysterious planet’s entry into Aries on Friday, March 11th may not be felt by anyone. But come eight years later, we may not recognize the world as we see it through the lens of science, technology, and art.
If the impulse to create, design, invent, or deconstruct, arises, it would surely be the right time to listen to that voice of inspiration. Things will be exciting over the next decade.
Then, as if March hadn’t seen enough astrological events, Mercury goes into retrograde on March 30th, obfuscating thought and communication.
Uranus Facts
Uranus takes approximately 85 years to orbit the sun. Its distance from the Sun is roughly 3 billion kilometres, and it is the only planet whose polar axis is sideways. Truly eccentric, this planet spins on an axis that is tilted 97º, which places the north and south poles nearly in line with the plane of the solar system. One face of the planet constantly faces the sun for approximately 42 years, half the orbital term, then retreats into a four decade night for the second half of the orbit.
